Chapter Ten

In the early hours of morning, Jacques walked Olivia back to the resort. Pink and yellow swept over the pale blue of the sky as he pulled her in his arms and kissed her. “I’m sorry I kept you out so late.”

“I’m not.” She stifled a yawn.

He took her hand, paused at the sight of another man’s claim on her finger. He forced the burn of his dragon’s heart to cool. Olivia had become his mate, and a ring on her finger wouldn’t change their bond.

Jacques brought her hand up to his mouth and kissed the palm.

“Jacques?”

He ran his tongue down her life line, felt the sharp intake of her breath. He kissed her wrist before he traced his dragon’s mark, branding it into her flesh. She flinched as his mark burned into her skin and bonded them together.

His eyes lifted, locked with hers. She blinked away the prickle of tears against the sting of where he placed his mark. Gently, he blew on it. “Better?”

“What have you done?”

“Marked you as my mate. Any dragon that comes near you will know we are bond.” He entwined his fingers with hers, his gaze shifted to the ring. She caught his glance, pulled her fingers from his.

“I should go. Marissa will wonder where I’ve been.”

“Of course.” He pulled her in for a long-lasting kiss, feeling if he didn’t he would soon lose her. “I’ll meet you here later for lunch.”

She looked at her wrist, then placed her hand on his bare chest. His shirt encased over her sweet curves to keep her warm in the chill of the morning air. “So easily you forget who gives the orders, slave.”

He chuckled, nipped her lips with his. “Yours to command my love.”

“Don’t think about skipping out on us, Marissa will no doubt hunt you down.”

“Never.” He gave her butt a swat as she walked away from him. He waited until she’d disappeared into the resort before heading to his rental near the Harbor of Gabir for a shower and change of clothes. Every step he took away from her, his dragon bulked at not taking her back to his place and keeping her with him.

After he’d rested, grabbed a shower, and clean clothes, Jacques headed back to the resort to take care of some business before meeting up with his mate and her friend. He hoped he could convince her to leave the resort and stay with him now that they had bonded.

Inside the lobby of the Miramare Spa, Jacques raised his hand in greeting to the resort manager, Piero, and continued down the hall.

Coming from the opposite end of the hall, Asia, his mother’s personal assistant, spotted him. Her long blond hair braided down her back, she didn’t miss a step as she marched toward him.

“Well hello there,” he greeted her.

She yanked him inside the nearest room, slammed the door shut, and turned on him. “What are you doing here?”

Asia didn’t give him a chance to respond.

“You know she is displeased.”

Jacques reached up and rubbed his jaw.
